Places for People has scooped a prestigious Home Builders Federation Innovation award, beating off stiff competition from a range of private sector housebuilders.

St Thomas` School, an innovative development in North Kensington where a state of the art new primary school was almost fully funded by the sale of 69 apartments built above it, has been named "Best regeneration partnership between a developer and the public sector". The old building had fallen well short of current standards, and the partnership breathed new life into the school as well as helping to meet local housing need.

The Group was also Highly Commended in the Community Award category for its work at Walker Riverside, where a dedicated Community Engagement Team is working with local residents to help them shape the future of their neighbourhood. Walker Riverside is a major £450 million regeneration programme which will see 1800 new homes built over the next 15 years, and more than 5000 local people have been involved with events in the last year alone.
