Wolverton Park wins another award
Back

The Royal Train Shed, part of Wolverton Park has won the Modern
Railway Restoration category at National Railway Heritage Awards.
The historic railway site near Milton Keynes has been redeveloped
by Places for People to provide 300 new homes alongside shops,
restaurants and bars.
The site, which once housed the Royal Train and experienced the
building of both locomotives and carriages for the UK’s railways,
has undergone a stunning transformation into a new mixed-use
community.
The Royal Train Shed is one of three, striking, Grade II listed
buildings at Wolverton Park that have been carefully restored
retaining the town’s link to its industrial heritage.
Today it is home to some elegant townhouses, built inside the
shell of the train shed. Some of the historical features of this
wonderful building have been incorporated into the new townhouses,
including cast iron triple-height windows and the ribbon glazing in
the roof.
